The “2018 Silver Flowers Blossom Grandpa Grandma Energy Show” competition came to an end successfully last weekend (7/28, 7/29). It was held by the Taichung City Government Social Affairs Bureau and assisted by Hondao Senior Citizens’ Welfare Foundation. The competition lasted two days at Kuo Kuang Elementary School attracting 49 teams to participate and almost 1,800 people performed on stage. 4 teams were selected to attend the central Taiwan semi-finals held by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

It has been 23 years since Hondao Senior Citizens’ Welfare Foundation was first founded. Their motto is to “unite everyone and care for the elderlies with love.” The three major ideas they stand by are “promotion of filial piety, community care and dreams never get old.” They look after elderlies living alone and promote smile education to spread family love. One of their most renowned projects is “forever young rider spirit” which encourages elderlies to step out of their homes to fulfill their dreams!

To promote and provide elderlies a stage to perform and show their energy, the "Grandpa Grandma Energy Show" was first held in 2008. This year, the event corresponds with the Taichung World Flora Exposition, making "silver flowers blossom" its theme and ecourages elderlies in coperate flowers and the flora exposition into their performance. Each team put huge amount of effort into their costumes and accessories demonstrating the energy they have just like flowers blossom!

This year, Alliance/Bulk has the chance to get to know more about Hondao Senior Citizens' Welfare Foundation and we cannot agree more with their philosophies. As a 40 year-old company in Taichung City, we long to support local charity events. Therefore, we sponsored 2700 bags specially designed for this event. In addition, we invited Kao Rei, one of the illustrators working under Alliance/Bulk to design the bag. He in cooperated the flower fairy illustration series along with the Taichung World Flora Exposition into his design to spread energy and joy!

This sponsor event not only gives Alliance/Bulk the opportunity to combine company resources and charity but allows us to have a deeper understanding of the philosophies Hondao Senior Citizens’ Welfare Foundation promotes. We hope in the future, we can participate in more similar events to give back to society with actions!
